Elisa Gabbert is the author of two collections of poetry: The French Exit (Birds LLC, 2010) and Thanks for Sending the Engine, a chapbook (Kitchen Press, 2007). Her poems have recently appeared in Another Chicago Magazine, The Awl, Denver Quarterly, Sentence and other journals. Collaborations with Kathleen Rooney are forthcoming in Notre Dame Review and Uncanny Valley, and her nonfiction has appeared in Mantis, Open Letters Monthly, and The Monkey & The Wrench: Essays into Contemporary Poetics. She blogs at The French Exit.

J. Michael Martinez is inspired by the latest incarnations of the BBC’s Doctor Who and owns three black hoodies; he also has a book he will not read from called Heredities (selected by Juan Felipe Herrera for the Academy of American Poets' Walt Whitman Award).

Molly Gaudry is the author of We Take Me Apart and is the founder of The Lit Pub.

Lisa Ciccarello thinks about the darkness & then thinks about it again. She has two chapbooks: At night (Scantily Clad Press, 2009) & At night, the dead (Blood Pudding Press, 2009). Her poems, some about the night & some not, have appeared or are forthcoming in Handsome, Clock, Sixth Finch, H_NGM_N, Saltgrass, Poor Claudia, & Corduroy Mtn., among others. Martin Corless-Smith was born and raised in Worcestershire, England. He is Professor of English at Boise State University where he directs the MFA program in Creative Writing. His recent work includes English Fragments (Fence Books 2010) and a chapbook, Roman and Moscow Poems, published by Bonfire Press last spring.

Noah Eli Gordon is the author of several books, including The Source (Futurepoem, 2011), and Novel Pictorial Noise (Harper Perennial, 2007), which was selected by John Ashbery for the National Poetry Series and subsequently chosen for the San Francisco State Poetry Center Book Award. Gordon is the co-publisher of Letter Machine Editions, and an Assistant Professor in the MFA program in Creative Writing at The University of Colorado–Boulder, where he currently directs Subito Press. His forthcoming books include The New Brutalism (Ahsahta Press, 2013) and 62 Problems (1913 Press, 2014).

Julie Carr is the author of four books of poetry, most recently 100 Notes on Violence (winner of the Sawtooth award) and Sarah-of Fragments and lines (a national poetry series selection). Her study of Victorian poetry and poetics, Surface Tension, is forthcoming from Dalkey Archive. Another book, as yet untitled, is forthcoming from Ahsahta Press. She is the co-publisher, with Tim Roberts, of Counterpath Press and teaches at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Serena Chopra is a graduate of University of Colorado at Boulder’s MFA program. She is recently published in the Denver Quarterly, Fact-Simile, The Laurel Review, VOLT, No Tell Motel. Her chapbook, "Speaking to Your Man," was released in August 2010 by Peninsulas Now Press. Her latest chapbook, "Penumbra" will be released in October 2011 from Flying Guillotine Press. She is a 2010 Kundiman fellow, a former intern for The New Press in New York City, and a 95 cent skool student. She currently works with Writers in the Schools to teach creative writing to Denver elementary school children, and is a faculty member at the Boulder Writing Studio. Serena is the co-founder and curator of TitMouse Magazine and art events. She is the founder of the TitMouse Writers Exchange. Serena teaches writing at Metropolitan State College and is a dancer with Evolving Doors Dance Company in Boulder. She lives and works in Denver.

Maureen Owen is the author of many books including American Rush: Selected Poems, AE [Amelia Earhart], Hearts in Space, Imaginary Income and Zombie Notes. She has served as the Program Coordinator and Acting Director of the Poetry Project at St Mark's-in-the-Bowery, New York City, where she has also taught workshops in writing and magazine production.

Born in Toronto, J. Mae Barizo was shortlisted for Canada's 2008 Robert Kroetsch award for Innovative Poetry and Ahsahta Press's Sawtooth Poetry Prize. She has received an International Publication Award from Atlanta Review, and was an Editor's Prize finalist for Spoon River Poetry Review. Her work has also appeared in Baltimore Review, Boxcar Poetry Review, Sink Review, Atlanta Review, among others. She is the author of two chapbooks, "The Concert Review" and "The Marble Palace."

Mathias Svalina is a co-editor of Octopus Books and Octopus Magazine. He is the author of Destruction Myth and the newly released I Am A Very Productive Entrepreneur.

Steven Karl is the author of the chapbooks, emissions/ of (H_NGM_N, 2011), (Ir)Rational Animals (Flying Guillotine Press, 2010) and State(s) of Flux w/ Joseph Lappie (Peptic Robot Press, 2009). In one way or another, he is involved with Sink Review, Cold Front Magazine, Borough Writing Workshops and Stain of Poetry. He sometimes blogs at stevenkarl.blogspot.com.

TC Tolbert is a genderqueer, feminist poet and teacher committed to social justice. S/he believes in working across communities – building bridges wherever possible. TC earned his MFA in Poetry from UA in 2005 and currently teaches Composition at The University of Arizona and Pima Community College. S/he is also the Assistant Director of Casa Libre en la Solana. S/he spends his summers leading wilderness trips for Outward Bound.

TC’s chapbook, territories of folding, was recently published by Kore Press. TC’s manuscript, Gephyromania, is forthcoming from Ahsahta Press. His poems can be found in Volt, The Pinch, Drunken Boat, Shampoo, A Trunk of Delirium, jubilat, and EOAGH. S/he is the creator of Made for Flight, a youth empowerment project that utilizes creative writing and kite building to commemorate murdered transgender people and dismantle homophobia and transphobia.

Laird Hunt, Tina Brown Celona, Keith Newton & Eugene Lim

Laird Hunt is the author of 4 novels, including, most recently, Ray of the Star. His translation from the French of Oliver Rohe's Vacant Lot was put out by Counterpath last fall and his first book, The Paris Stories, was just rereleased by Marick Press. His writings, reviews and translations have appeared in, among other places, McSweeney's, Ploughshares, Bookforum and Brick.

Tina Brown Celona is 36. She has been studying Edwardian writing, poetics, confessions and prosody at the University of Denver. She hesitates to publish her poems because seeing them in print fills her with unacceptably intense self-doubt. Her most recent unpublished work is My Cat Jeoffry, a chapbook about her cat, Jeoffry, who disappeared last June under mysterious circumstances.

Keith Newton’s writing has appeared in Denver Quarterly, 1913, Harvard Review, Konundrum Engine, and Typo, among other journals, and his chapbook of poems Sent Forth to Die in a Happy City was published in 2009 by Cannibal Books. He is co-editor of The Harp & Altar Anthology (Ellipsis Press, 2010), a selection of writing from the online magazine Harp & Altar, which he foun...ded in 2006. He lives in Brooklyn.

Eugene Lim's is the author of the novel Fog & Car and co-editor of The Harp & Altar Anthology. His writing has appeared or is forthcoming in The Denver Quarterly, Fence, The Brooklyn Rail, Sleeping Fish and elsewhere.

Brian Foley is the author of the chapbooks The Constitution (Horseless Press, 2011) & The Black Eye (Brave Men Press, 2010). His poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Boston Review, Springgun, Action Yes, Saltgrass, Columbia Poetry Journal, Poor Claudia, & elsewhere. He curates the jubilat reading series in Amherst, MA, and co-runs Brave Men Press.

Amy Catanzano is the author of Multiversal, winner of the 2010 PEN USA Literary Award in Poetry. Multiversal was published as the winner of the Poets Out Loud Prize with Fordham University Press, selected by Michael Palmer. Amy is also the author of iEpiphany, published by Anne Waldman’s Erudite Fangs imprint, as well as an electronic chapbook, the heartbeat is a fractal, published by Ahadada Books. Amy currently teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in poetry and poetics, cross-genre forms, and literature in the Department of Writing and Poetics in the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University in Boulder. She also currently serves as the administrative director of the department and is managing

editor of Naropa’s literary journal, Bombay Gin.

Aaron McCollough’s published poetry collections include: Little Ease (Ahsahta Press, 2006); Double Venus (Salt, 2003); and Welkin (Ahsahta Press, 2002). His next book of poems No Grave Can Hold My Body Down is forthcoming from Ahsahta Press in September of 2011. He has a PhD in English Literature from the University of Michigan and an MFA in creative writing from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. His poems have recently appeared in Boston Review, Colorado Review, A Public Space, and Quarterly West.

This year's second Bad Shadow Affair wants to love you.

Shira Dentz's book of poems, black seeds on a white dish, is just out from Shearsman Books. She is also the author of another full-length collection, door of thin skins (CavanKerry Press), that is forthcoming, and a chapbook, Leaf Weather (Tilt Press). Her poems and stories have appeared in many journals including The American Poetry Review, The Iowa Revie...w, Brooklyn Rail, jubilat, New American Writing, Denver Quarterly, Western Humanities Review, Black Warrior Review, Drunken Boat, Lungfull!, and Bombay Gin. Her poems have also been featured on NPR, Poetry Daily, and Omnidawn Publishing’s blog.

Mike Sikkema is the author of Futuring (BlazeVOX), and most recently the chapbooks "Saying Things as an Engine Would" (HNG MN 2010), I Could Jump Through the Keyhole in Your Door (Horse Less 2010), and with Jen Tynes, a collaborative chapbook entitled Autogeography (Black Warrior Review, 2011).

Yanara Friedland’s paternal great grandfather owned coalmines in western Germany. Her maternal great grandfather a small grocery in America’s Midwest. She was born in Berlin and wrote her first story in Australia. She has traveled and lived in Scotland, Mongolia, India, Nepal, Brussels, and currently in Denver to complete her PhD in Creative Writing. Her investigations have included Fire, Caves and more recently portraits of tyrannical women. These efforts have or will appear in obscure publications, such as ‘les edition maelstroem’, ‘the herald magazine’, ‘nomad’s magazine’ and ‘correspondence’. She has worked with refugees, shamans, jazz musicians, farmers, tornados, horror film directors, pancakes, orphans and jewelers. At 16 she was told she was present at Christ’s crucifixion.

J'Lyn Chapman holds a PhD from the University of Denver. She is an advisor and lecturer in the Department of Writing and Poetics at Naorpa University. Her chapbook, Bear Stories, was published by Calamari Press.

Bin Ramke edits the Denver Quarterly and teaches literature and creative writing in the English Department. His first book won the Yale Younger Poets Award, and he has since published nine other books of poems, most recently Theory of Mind (Omnidawn, 2009).

Cynthia Arrieu-King is an assistant professor of creative writing at Stockton College. Her book People are Tiny in Paintings of China is out with Octopus Books. Her poems and other work appear in Boston Review, Witness, Jacket & Harp and Altar.

Michael Friedman's books include the comic novel Martian Dawn (Turtle Point, 2006) and the collection of prose poems Species (The Figures, 2000). Several poems from Species were included in the anthology Great American Prose Poems: From Poe to the Present (Scribner, 2003), and Martian Dawn was named by The Believer editor Ed Park one of his ten favorite books of fiction of 2006. Since 1986 he has edited the influential literary journal Shiny. He grew up in Manhattan and is a former chair of the board of directors of The Poetry Project at St. Mark's Church.

Joshua Allen has been writing online at fireland dot com since 1995, which is sort of sad. His current project is a confusing set of adventure tales called Chokeville. Andy Dick emailed him out of the blue last year.

Joanna Ruocco is the author of Man’s Companions (Tarpaulin Sky, 2010) and The Mothering Coven (Ellipsis Press, 2009). She co-edits Birkensnake, a fiction journal. She currently resides in Denver, Colorado.

Tim Roberts is a writer and editor living in Denver. He is the publisher, with Julie Carr, of Counterpath Press. His book Drizzle Pocket will be out from BlazeVox Books this Spring.

Margaret Ronda's book of poems, Personification, won the 2009 Saturnalia Books Poetry Prize. Recent poems can be found in Aufgabe, Gulf Coast, and Berkeley Poetry Review. She just moved to Bloomington, Indiana, where she is teaching poetry and American literature at Indiana University.

Thibault Raoult, born in Pithiviers, France, & raised in Rochester, NY, has published two chapbooks--"El P.E." via Projective Industries & "I'll Say I'm Only Visiting" via Cannibal. A former Dolin Scholar at the University of Chicago, he holds an MFA from Brown University. Person Hour, his first book, will be published via BlazeVOX Books.
